Aidan Salakhova possesses a perfect sense of style. She always conveys her message in a plane and straightforward way, depriving the critics and the public of any possibility of misinterpreting her work. However the project «My Bride», with all its seeming simplicity and brevity, is something absolutely hermetic in the oeuvre of this artist. What does it mean? Demonstration on the theme of the eternal myth of a white wedding dress, about which every woman dreams? Or may be the birth of a new, female «Podkolesin complex», with his constant desire to jump out of the window before a wedding ceremony, in our case — to escape from the podium? And why «my», not just «a bride»? Or is it a self-portrait, a sort of the author’s alter ego? Or possibly self-irony? One feels something here, a meaning to be grasped and pigeon-holed, but it eventually escapes you. This project is one of the most «enciphered» that Aidan has created, and is certainly the most multi-layered. Any person that comes to a contemporary art exhibition already has in him an «interior scout». What can be more exciting than decoding and unlocking a riddle constructed by an author, particularly so if it is Aidan, who usually deprives the public of any possibility... Look at the beginning.
