The end of the 1950s and the mid-1970s was the time of "lyric physicists", when the cult of science as a whole was propagated, and the cult of exact sciences, in particular. The attention to science and education, as well as the resources spent, brought results. Soviet physicists received the Nobel Prizes: Pavel Cherenkov, Igor Tamm, Ilya Frink in 1958, Lev Landau in 1962, Nikolai Basov and Alexander Prokhorov in 1964, Pyotr Kapitsa in 1978. The headlines of the press dazzled with the words "peaceful atom", "cybernetics" "Genetics," "exploration of the cosmos." Scientists - and, first and foremost, physicists - become the heroes of time.

The image of the science cities of the time: Novosibirsk Academgorodok, Institute of High Energy Physics in Protvino, Institute of Biological Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Pushchino, the Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Chernogolovka, and Vsevolod Tarasevich, the best romantic atmosphere in the photo reports. In 1963, for a snapshot of the "Duel" from the series "Moscow University" Tarasevich received the prize of World Press Photo.

The experience of an era where knowledge and achievements were more important than material rewards, and today has not lost its charm.
